Mary C and The Stellars are one of the most buzzed about acts in the independent music scene. Mary C’s captivating performances continue to electrify and energize crowds everywhere and has drawn the attention of various music media outlets, including AOL Music and MTV. In 2011, Mary C was also chosen as RLIFE LIVE “Artist to Watch” and received coverage in The New York Times and various publications.
Mary C has been performing original songs since she was five years old. It’s no surprise; the daughter of NYC Jazz recording artist Mercedes Hall and the sister of “Brat Pack” member Anthony Michael Hall, Mary’s artistry was her birthright. Her first performance space as a kid was on the steps of her NYC schoolyard. Today, she sings around the globe and routinely performs at some of New York City’s most revered venues (The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall and Joe’s Pub) and has opened up for Grammy Nominated artists Thievery Corporation, Emily King, 311, and Matisyahu.
The summer of 2012 will mark the release of the highly anticipated EP from Mary C and The Stellars, Right on Time. A unique mixture of Pop & Soul highlight an album also packed with an amazing blend of blues, rock, and funk. All in all, Right on Time is eclectic mix of music that typifies Mary C’s distinctive and infectious sound.
The Stellars represent Mary C’s vision of showcasing the essence of her native city. “The Stellars give you a taste of New York City – individuals with a lot of sass, style and soul…”
The Stellars feature Jason Wexler (keys), Aaron Belinfanti (drums), Gaku Takanashi (bass), Ms Jackie-O Chasen (alto & bari sax), Marco Coco (trumpet) and Oscar Bautista (guitar). The dynamic background vocalists “The Sha’Nettes” feature Shani Clayton & Cherette Lewis. “I knew that I wanted solid vocals to support my song’s harmonies, but it had to be more than just fierce vocals, and in that moment ‘The Sha’Nettes’ were born. Their natural flare, charisma, character and energy was just made for the stage” says Mary C.
Between her development of Mary C and The Stellars, Mary C remains busy writing, arranging & producing for such clients as: SONY Music, SONY International, Universal Records, Def Jam Records and SoHo Publishing House. She has penned two original songs for SONY Japan recording artist, Ericka and her work in 2010 for Strictly Rhythm Records rose to the top of the Billboard Top 100 International Dance charts. Mary C was also commissioned to write and record the official theme song for New York Times Best Selling Author, Tory Johnson’s Spark & Hustle Campaign. The motivational up-tempo pop/rock song, ‘One Life’ will be showcased on Ms. Johnson’s 2011-2012 campaign world tour.
