YAWN was born in an ancient, muraled basement in the summer of 2009. One EP to bind them, they spent the next year singing songs of friends and cats throughout the basements and lofts of Chicago. Fast-forward to August 2011, and the cosmic-minded debut Open Season is released. Tours with Tame Impala, The Kooks, Mates of State, Suckers, and others followed. Upon returning home, YAWN teamed up with like-minded friends and created FeelTrip – a live-in recording studio, venue and record label headquartered in a loft haunted by the ghost of the early 00’s band Disturbed. Quickly amassing the right pieces for the studio that lies just outside their bedrooms, YAWN wrote and recorded heavily throughout 2012 and winter/spring 2013. Of their experiences on the road, they released the ep Happy Tears in June ‘12. And of their shaky romantic affairs, they wrote material for their second album – Love Chills. A teaser track ‘Summer Heat’ was released shortly after their performance at Lollapalooza 2013. Determined to make the best record they could, YAWN spent the following fall and winter polishing the album, reworking some songs , writing new material, leaking tracks to friends as they went. The circulating songs caught the attention of Old Flame records, and is now set for release September 2014.
